Fine Craft Kits and More! We released our first HO scale limited run kit, Weiry & Sons, in 1983, and nine more since. And we plan to release many more of these exciting kits featuring plaster cast brick and stonework, laser-cut wood, etched brass parts, and of course plenty of our famous white metal details. We also offer a full line of Evening Express Series kits which, while smaller in scope than our limited run kits, feature many of the same great components. All at reasonable prices. Be sure to check out our new mining kits. More Than Just Kits - For the scratch builder we offer a whole range of detailing parts, building materials, construction stocks, scale figures, and general supplies, serving N, HO, S and O scales, with even a couple of pieces for G. Among our stocks of roofing and siding materials are tar paper, slate shingles and shakes, TrueWood laser-cut strip shingles, and our Victorian shingles, with real metal Ribbed Seam and Corrgation Strips, both in various widths and scale. Our scratch building parts including miniature brass chain, now in three standard sizes plus one ornate, our incredible laser-cut Lace Curtains, Venitian Blinds, stair stringers in three slopes, and for scenery we have Snow!, perfect for modeling the high-country, and Kelp/Seaweed, just right for modeling shorelines, and much much more. Our HO scale detailing kits and sets include Chain Link Fence, Snow Fence and other small models, ectched brass details, and an assortment of white metal details grouped in useful sets. For O scale we have 40 white metal detail parts to choose from plus two dozen scale figures and animals. For all modelers we offer our famous SwitchMaster slow-motion and virtually silent stall-type switch machines and accessories. You'll find all of these and more within our web site. BUILDERS IN SCALE has moved to Mukilteo, Washington! On September 1st, 2002, Jim Haggard retired from leading Builders In Scale to pursue other activities. Long time friend and model kit manufacturer, C. C. Crow, has stepped in and moved the business to Washington state, just north of Seattle, where he continues Builders In Scale's tradition of producing high-quality polished craft kits and accessories. With much sadness we must report that Jim Haggard has passed away due to lung cancer. Never a smoker himself, both parents were. If you ever had a good reason to quit, please do it now. Well, it's taken over two years but finally some new kits are here. Now available are two additions to our Evening Express line, The Ore Tipple and The Mine Headframe as seen at the top of this page. We are also working on The National Belle Mine as our next Limited Edition kit in HO scale. We wish it wasn't taking so long- This complex of structuers will be a prominent feature on your pike. The upper mine (original concept model shown above) consists of a headframe, boiler house, compressor house and hoist house which can be placed together, moved around or even be split apart and spread out in different locations on your layout. We're not through though, there's the lower section, featuring covered ore bins and an exposed enterance so you can show off a string of ore cars glimmering with ore said to be worth $14,000* per ton!
