We've got what you need to keep the rain out. Our laser-cut shingles include paper or our TrueWood premium. Styles include Rustic and City, short reveal, ridge-caps- in a variety of veneers.

These natural wood-colored, self-adhesive, laser cut shingles are perfect for detailing a structure's roof or shingled wall. Each package coveres up to 8 square inches.

HO SCALE SHAKE SHINGLES

Natural wood-colored, self-adhesive, laser cut shingles- Covers over 12 square inches and offer a more affordable option to our TrueWood shingles (see those below).

We have added " City " -style HO to the list, which have a straight end cut. Our shake-style, as with our " Rustic " TrueWood shingles, end at random lengths.

S SCALE SHAKE SHINGLES

Natural wood-colored, self-adhesive, laser cut shingles- Covers about 24 square inches and offer a more affordable option to our TrueWood shingles (see those below).

First, a note about our wood veneers.
We have minimal control over future availability of our veneer stocks. Since the wood is both a natural product and their harvest/cut changes the next batch may or may not match our current, past or future stocks. We attempt to be consistent but there is no guarantee. You would be wise to purchase more than enough shingles to cover your entire project else risk a mismatch later on.

We are currently using several types of WOOD VENEER:

TRUEWOOD SHINGLES - FOR O, S and G SCALES

Laser cut, self-adhesive, real wood shingles. Each package covers over 27 sq. inches depending upon the amount of reveal. The "City" shingles are perfect for recently roofed or well maintained buildings, while the "Rustic" shingles give a less than perfect, time-worn, weather-beaten look to your older buildings. (Garden railroader's please note that NONE of these are intended for outdoor use.)

We offer birch veneer for our City shingles, and oak for our Rustic shingles, or ANEGRE for both styles. And we are making a special run of Western Red Cedar cut in the Rustic-style. These are really very nice.

If you prefer another wood veneer for your project please don't hesitate to ask. Also consider using other scale shingles for your model. Not all shingles were created equally! West coast shingles tend to be much larger than those found on the east coast.

We've added a wider short reveal style here too. It's a variation on our Rustic-style.

We also have Ridge Cap shingles for covering the ridge sections of your roof. Anegre is standard, with cedar, oak and birch available.

THE ORIGINAL TRUEWOOD SHINGLES

NOTE ON THE ORIGINAL TRUEWOOD SHINGLES

Way back before laser-cutting Builders In Scale pioneered scale shingles by offering die-cut self-adhesive TrueWood shingles. The dies are long gone (very very dull), replaced with laser-cut, in a multitude of varieties. Fishscale, Diamond-cut, Rustic, City- Unfortunately, we have had little success matching the older-styles with the new. We'd truly like to help you fix or finish that old model but it's nearly impossible to do remotely. In most cases you are better off to start over with fresh material. Or do what they often do in real life, fix it with something else. Cover it with corrugated metal. Put a quick patch-job on. How about some tar paper? That will get you by at least till next spring. Now go build your model!

NOTE ON COVERAGE

We estimate the coverage of our shingles at 60 percent. Your actual coverage will depend on the amount of reveal you choose, the complexity of your roofing, waste and other factors. A wise modeler, and a life-sized roofer for that matter, will always add 10-20 percent onto his estimate so as not to be caught short.
